Bangladesh Media Relations Strategy - 2014

I developed a national media strategy in Bangladesh to advance tobacco control policy reform, focusing on amending the national tobacco law and raising tobacco taxes. The strategy mobilized earned media, print, broadcast, and digital campaigns to generate public and political support, while countering the industry's influence. By training over 150 journalists and supporting the creation of the Anti-Tobacco Media Alliance (ATMA), the plan strengthened media advocacy and amplified visibility of tobacco harms. This work highlighted the impact of media relations, coalition-building, and strategic messaging on influencing legislation, increasing revenues, and saving lives through enhanced public health protections.
