Lessons Learned as Executive Director of the G4 Alliance

In almost two years as Executive Director, I took a global surgical advocacy coalition from a single-revenue-stream dependency to a model that combined corporate membership, earned revenue, and a formal Memorandum of Understanding with the World Health Organization, signed in August 2024.

This is a story of leadership. About holding paradoxes: pushing for scale while engaging and reassuring key stakeholders. Welcoming bold innovation while managing institutional risk. Building a WHO partnership not for the prestige of the signing, but as a springboard to further the G4 Alliance's mission after the ink dries.
