Agreement with the Italian Government to Promote Religious Freedom

Project type

APCO - Coalition to Improve Religious Freedom - Italy - 2006 to 2010

Date

2006 to 2010

Location

Rome, Italy

At APCO Worldwide, from 2006 to 2010, I managed strategic communications and public affairs for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) in Italy, with a focus on advocacy, coalition building, and stakeholder engagement. Between 2006 and 2010, I led a multi-faith coalition campaign that secured key agreements with the Italian government, resulting in official recognition of the Church and its contributions to Italian society.

My work combined media relations, lobbying, and high-level stakeholder engagement, engaging directly with policymakers, faith leaders, and civic organizations. I developed and implemented tailored communications strategies to navigate sensitive cultural and political contexts while amplifying narratives about the Church’s humanitarian work and community impact.

Through this project, I helped establish long-term government recognition and positioned the LDS Church as a respected partner in Italy’s interfaith and civic landscape. This experience reflects my ability to integrate communications, advocacy, and public affairs to influence policy, strengthen institutional relationships, and shape public perception in complex international environments.
